REVOLUTION RECORDS TERMS & CONDITIONS
Last updated: 25 February 2026
Effective date: 25 February 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website https://revolutionrecords.co.za/ (“Website”) operated by Revolution Records (“we”, “us”, or “our”), a record shop located at 73 Lower Main Road, Observatory, Cape Town, Western Cape.
By accessing, browsing, or purchasing from the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Website or make any purchases.
1. NATURE OF GOODS
All hi-fi equipment, audio components, and music media (including but not limited to tapes, CDs, DVDs, and vinyl records) offered for sale on the Website are second-hand / pre-owned / used goods unless explicitly stated otherwise.
We thoroughly inspect, test, and service hi-fi equipment as needed prior to offering it for sale to ensure it meets reasonable standards at the time of listing.
However, because these are second-hand goods, faults, wear, or defects may develop or become apparent after purchase that were not detectable or present at the time of sale. Such issues may not be covered under any warranty or return policy, except to the extent required by law.
2. BUY-INS
Buy-ins (the purchase by us of your second-hand hi-fi equipment, audio components, music media, or similar items) are generally conducted as cash transactions at a mutually agreed-upon price. This price is determined after an in-situ (in-person) interaction at our premises, during which both parties have the opportunity for due inspection and assessment of the items.
Buy-ins are strictly available Monday to Friday during business hours (10:00 AM to 6:00 PM), with some exceptions at our discretion (e.g., special arrangements or urgent cases). We reserve the right to decline any buy-in offer without explanation. All buy-ins are final once payment is made and ownership is transferred.
3. WARRANTY ON HI-FI EQUIPMENT
We provide a limited warranty of 3 (three) months from the date of delivery on hi-fi equipment, covering defects in materials and workmanship that were not disclosed at the time of sale.
This warranty is in addition to any implied rights you may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), including the implied warranty of quality (Sections 55 and 56).
The warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear
- Damage caused by misuse, accident, neglect, improper installation, unauthorised repairs, or modifications
- Issues arising from compatibility with other equipment
- Faults that are inherent to second-hand goods and disclosed or reasonably foreseeable
To claim under our warranty, contact us at +27 76 261 7804 with proof of purchase and a description of the issue. We reserve the right to inspect the item.
4. REPAIR SERVICES
We are always willing to attempt repairs on your hi-fi equipment or other audio items at a reasonable fee. Quotes will be provided before any work begins. Repairs are undertaken on a best-effort basis and carry no guarantee unless separately agreed in writing.
Workshop Terms and Conditions (applicable to any goods left for repair or servicing):
- All goods left at the shop are at owners’ risk.
- We offer a 3-month guarantee on all repairs.
- Goods not collected within 1 month (30 days) of notification for collection will be sold/disposed of to defray expenses.
- There is no charge for a quotation, but if a quotation is not accepted, a fee of R250 will be charged to cover time and cost.
5. STRICT NO RETURNS POLICY FOR MUSIC MEDIA
For all music media (tapes, CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, and similar items), we operate a strict No Returns, No Refunds, No Exchanges policy, except where required by law (e.g., if the item is materially defective in a way that breaches the CPA implied warranty of quality).
While we take great care in grading, testing, and describing the condition of each item (including play-testing where applicable), audio media can be subjective in quality. Ultimately, the onus is on you, the customer, to satisfy yourself that the item meets your personal standards before purchase (e.g., by reviewing detailed descriptions, photos, and condition notes provided).
We do not accept returns due to:
- Change of mind
- Buyer’s remorse
- Personal taste or preference
- Minor surface noise, pops, clicks, or cosmetic imperfections consistent with the described used condition
This policy complies with CPA allowances for certain goods where returns are limited (e.g., due to hygiene, unsealed media, or where disclosure is made).
6. GENERAL RETURNS AND REMEDIES UNDER THE CPA
For hi-fi equipment and other goods (excluding music media where stated), under the CPA’s implied warranty of quality (Sections 55 and 56), if the goods fail to comply with the requirements for quality (good quality, in good working order, free of defects, and durable for a reasonable period) within 6 (six) months of delivery, you may be entitled to return them (at our risk and expense) and elect repair, replacement, or refund, subject to the Act’s provisions.
We will handle such claims in accordance with the CPA. Any attempt to limit statutory rights is invalid to the extent prohibited by law.
7. PRIVACY AND DATA COLLECTION
We collect personal information (such as name, email, delivery address, phone number, and payment details) necessary to process orders, deliver goods, provide customer support, and comply with legal obligations.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Your data will never be shared with third parties for marketing or unrelated purposes, except:
- As required by law
- With service providers (e.g., couriers, payment processors) under strict confidentiality
- To protect our rights or safety
We handle personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Read our full Privacy Policy here.
8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We provide all goods and services on an “as is” and “as available” basis, subject to statutory rights.
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the Website or purchase of goods.
- Our total liability shall not exceed the purchase price paid for the relevant goods.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or any matter where exclusion is prohibited by law (including under the CPA).
9. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Cape Town, Western Cape.
10. CHANGES TO TERMS
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on the Website with the updated “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
