MAXI. Released in 1981, the Tainted Love / Where Did Our Love Go 12-inch maxi-single is a pioneering masterpiece of British synth-pop. The massive club release is legendary for its sprawling, nearly nine-minute A-side medley, which seamlessly transforms Gloria Jones’s obscure Northern soul track into a futuristic, synthesizer-driven global hit before sliding into a moody cover of The Supremes’ classic.
